Demonstration of Advanced Textile Sorting and Dismantling System

RIT and Goodwill of the Finger Lakes will demonstrate the performance of a textile sorting system they have developed. Their system leverages AI and Machine Learning (ML) and uses two types of cameras to automatically determine the type of clothing, identify and remove disruptors such as buttons and elastane, and sort the clothing by material type. After incorporating enhancements to increase processing speed and improve sorting capabilities, they will test the system’s performance at a Goodwill of the Finger Lakes sorting warehouse to gather input on the system’s usability and solicit industry feedback on the system's economics and sorting accuracy.
