A Dynamic Techno-economic Systems Modeling Framework for U.S. Fiber Recycling

The project will develop a model of the U.S. paper and paperboard recovery and recycling industry, from when consumers and businesses generate paper and paperboard waste to when recycled fiber has been produced for use in new products. The model will allow REMADE℠ and the recovery and recycling industry to assess how adopting different operating practices and technologies can improve long-term profitability, reduce environmental impacts, and increase domestic fiber recycling by 15% or more despite volatility in scrap quantities, quality, and price.
