A team from RIT and Synergy Additive Manufacturing will demonstrate high-speed laser cladding (HSLC) as a production-ready remanufacturing technology for recovering grey cast-iron diesel engine blocks and heads currently scrapped due to surface damage. By the end of the project, the team will confirm the mechanical integrity and thermal stability of the repairs through adhesion and full-block accelerated thermal cycling testing.
