Node Lead, Manufacturing Material Optimization
Dr. Rohatgi is the Lead for the Manufacturing Material Optimization Node of the REMADE Institute, where he directs a research team in exploring methods and technologies to reduce the material impacts of manufacturing through product design, production technology, and material engineering. Dr. Rohatgi leverages an extensive career in manufacturing research and industry interface, drawing on his experience as the CEO of two Indian National Research Laboratories, and more recently as the Director of the Centers for Composites and Advanced Materials Manufacturing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Rohatgi has made pioneering discoveries in the field of metals engineering, leading to 19 US patents and co-authorship of 11 books. Throughout his career, Dr. Rohatgi has also served as an expert consultant to many industries, the World Bank, and the United Nations.
Dr. Rohatgi holds a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, and both an MS and ScD in Materials Science & Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
